ABOUT SECURITYSTAT

Make Social Security
easier to understand.

SecurityStat brings public information about Social Security into one place: connected maps, practical metrics, and research with the evidence in view.

Our purpose

Social Security touches households, communities, and institutions across the country. Understanding it requires more than a single number. Benefits, service access, staffing, technology, and long-term financing each tell part of the story.

SecurityStat connects those perspectives so congressional staff, researchers, disability professionals, and the public can explore the system, examine its performance, and ask better questions. We aim to make complex public information easier to find, compare, and use in informed discussion.

FIVE CONNECTED PERSPECTIVES

Explore the atlases

Evidence before inference

01

Keep sources visible

Source links, reporting dates, definitions, and downloadable data help readers trace what a chart or statement means. Review coverage varies and is identified where available.

02

Compare like with like

Federal SSA employees and state DDS staff are different workforces. Annual figures and monthly observations cover different periods. Forecasts and actual financial results answer different questions.

03

Show the limits

Missing information stays missing. An observed relationship does not establish causation. Records can describe historical, planned, or qualified relationships rather than current operations.

A resource for inquiry

SecurityStat is an independent public-data research project, not an official Social Security Administration or congressional website. It is designed to support understanding and oversight. It does not make benefit decisions or handle individual claims.

Corrections and questions make the work stronger. If you find a discrepancy or a useful new source, get in touch.
